Spiritual Direction

The purpose of spiritual direction is to detect and discern the presence and movements of God in a person’s life. Spiritual direction can become part of the life of all those who seek relationship with their Source, and is part of a typical Christian life. It is not about advice giving and it is not counseling.

The classic ministry of spiritual direction is about two people listening together to the Spirit that guides and accompanies one. In spiritual direction, the focus is on trying to detect the activity of the Sustainer (whom one may call God, Higher Power, Abba, YHWH) in the life of the seeker.

Such seeking may involve the use of spiritual disciplines as well as what the seeker may be hearing. As a director, I will do a lot of listening to you and asking questions of you as we explore together the ways you may (or may not) be connecting with God.

Sessions typically occur once monthly, although that frequency may vary. We will have a briefer initial meeting to facilitate discernment of our match for journeying together. We will then separately listen for guidance over time before reaching a final decision about moving forward.

If you are experiencing financial challenges that impact your ability to maintain a current account, please inform me so that we may work together toward a resolution.
